Introduction

The 8th Delta International Smart & Green Manufacturing Contest (the Contest) is an innovative technology competition for automation and green technologies hosted by the Chinese Association of Automation (CAA) and organized by the Delta Group. The Contest contains three theme tracks, including "Energy-saving Machines", "Green Manufacturing", and "Green Living"

The Contest supports education reform and contributes to building the platforms for automation technology teaching in the universities. In addition to encouraging the interactions between teachers and students in universities from different countries, the Contest instills young talents with a passion for automation technologies as well as delivers on Delta's brand promise of "Smarter. Greener. Together." and fulfills the corporate mission, "To provide innovative, clean, and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow."

Moreover, the Contest aims to help university students enhance their design, program, and debug capabilities. By combining theories with practices, the participating teams acquire opportunities to develop innovation skills and team spirit during the Contest and exchange experiences with enterprises for in-depth cooperation.

The Contest includes two stages: the online preliminaries, and the finals. The finals contain the semifinal and the grand final. The Final Contest format will be further announced depending on the COVID-19 pandemic. The Contest Committee will be based on the judging criteria and select the best among all eligible entries to enter the finals. A total of 100 teams worldwide will enter the finals.

1. The online preliminaries require an entry proposal submission and Delta’s Industrial Automation Knowledge Online Test. The proposal evaluation judges are technical directors of Delta’s major operation areas.

2. In the semi-final contest, each semifinalist shall give a proposal presentation and an entry demonstration and answer questions raised by the judges. The best 15 teams will enter the grand final.

3. The grand final is an exciting solution-sharing event and an excellent opportunity for the participating teams and audiences to learn and interact. Each finalist shall give a proposal briefing with PowerPoint slides, perform a live demonstration, and answer questions from the judging panel. The panel includes industry professionals, experienced professors and lecturers, and senior technical directors from the Delta Group.
